  • What is MindDoc?

MindDoc is a monitoring and self-management application that provides continuous long-term symptom monitoring for individuals with mental health problems. This enables users to recognize patterns in their symptom trajectories which then can be shared with a mental health care provider or used for self-management. It

    1. provides users orientation regarding the need to consult a mental health care provider who can use the monitoring data to prepare an actual diagnosis and support a follow-up therapy.
    2. enables users to self-manage symptoms and related problems by providing both transdiagnostic and disorder-specific evidence-based courses and exercises which help them to recognize, understand, and cope with signs and symptoms of mental disorders.

The application explicitly does not replace diagnosis of a doctor or a psychological psychotherapist, but can only prepare and support the way to psychiatric or psychotherapeutic treatment.

  • Who is MindDoc suited for?

Everyone who feels emotionally burdened and is worried about suffering from clinically relevant mental disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety)

  • I’m worried that I might suffer from burnout. Can I also use MindDoc?

Yes. Burnout is not considered as an autonomous illness by medical professionals. A burnout is an additional diagnosis that is frequently made in combination with depression. Furthermore, a burnout in its final stages is almost indistinguishable from depression. The additional diagnosis of a burnout often serves to explain a profound exhaustion. Moodpath is suited for anyone who feels burnt out and deeply exhausted.

  • Why does the screening take 14 days?

A psychological strain is not a snapshot. Our assessment of your emotional health is based, among other things (but not exclusively), on criteria for the recognition of certain mental stress from international statistical classifications. Those often define that a certain combination and number of symptoms must be present over a period of at least 14 days in order to make a certain diagnosis. Even if our application does not perform or provide a diagnosis, the 14-day period helps to identify symptoms of mental stress over a period of time that is as meaningful as possible.

  • Will I receive a diagnosis after 14 days?

No. the app does not give a diagnosis after the self-screening. A diagnosis can only be given by a doctor or psychotherapist. You will receive a systematic summary symptom load and you will be able to view the development of your mood. The collected data can be immensely helpful for a doctor or psychotherapist when giving a diagnosis.

  • What kind of questions will I be asked?

The questions are about your physical and mental well-being. On the one hand, you will get questions that are explicitly asking about the symptoms of a general mental disorders. On the other hand, you will be asked about symptoms that frequently accompany those disorders and symptoms that can indicate related illnesses.

  • Why do I receive questions in the morning, afternoon and evening?

Variations according to the time of day are typical for a many mental disorders. In order to capture the development of your mood as precisely as possible, MindDoc asks about your well-being at three different times of the day.

  • How do the push notifications work?

If you enable push notifications, you will receive updates when new sets of questions are available or other important events occur (e.g., a new result, an insight). This will help you to avoid missing questions. Should you still miss a question at some point, don’t worry! MindDoc’s algorithm adapts to the way you answer the questions. If you miss important questions, they will be integrated into other sets of questions. If questions are missed multiple times, the screening period will be restarted automatically. Regardless, make sure to miss as few questions as possible to allow evaluation.

  • Is my data secure?

Your information will not be passed on to third parties. The creation of an individual account is recommended to enable the possibility to restore data at different devices but is not mandatory. You can use the app totally anonymous and are not required to sign with an email address (though you can to that at any point of time later if you wish to). If you use the app without an account, you will receive an anonymous user ID that only MindDoc can see. We cannot recognize the identity associated with that ID. You can delete your information entirely at any time in the settings menu. If you are interested, you can decide to transfer your information to a doctor or therapist via an SSL interface (end to end encrypted).

  • I have a technical issue. What can I do?

  • What is the purpose of the result?

You will have the opportunity to download your results as a “doctor’s letter” in the form of a pdf-document. This pdf can be sent to a doctor or psychotherapist or brought to an initial appointment.

  • Does using the MindDoc app replace a psychotherapist?
